​Terms and Conditions for Student Guest Columnists
​
Purpose
The goal of the guest column program is to provide a platform for students to share their perspectives, experiences, and expertise related to their field of study or student life.
​
Eligibility
-
Student columnist must be currently enrolled students as a Full-Time student at St. Lawrence College-Cornwall Campus
-
Submissions should relate to academic experiences, field of study insights, or student life.
​
Submission Guidelines
-
Length: Columns should be a maximum of 150 words.
-
Format: Submissions should be in a .doc or .pdf format.

Deadline: Columns must be submitted on or before the 10th of the month.

Originality: Content must be original and not previously published elsewhere.

Content Standards

Respectful Discourse: Columns must adhere to principles of respectful discourse. Personal attacks, hate speech, and discriminatory remarks will not be tolerated.

Factual Accuracy: Student Columnists are responsible for ensuring the accuracy of their statements. Misinformation will lead to disqualification.

No Political Content: Columns should refrain from expressing political beliefs. Focus should be on personal experiences and academic insights.

Confidentiality: Any content that may violate privacy or confidentiality (e.g., personal information of others) will not be accepted.

Vetting Process

Submissions will be reviewed by Cornwall Student Union for adherence to guidelines and standards.

The CSU team reserves the right to edit for clarity, length, and adherence to content standards.

Student Columnist may be contacted for clarification or additional information during the vetting process.

Publication Rights

By submitting a column, the contributor grants Cornwall Student Union the right to publish the work in print and digital formats.

Student Columnist will retain ownership of their work but agree to give Cornwall Student Union first publication rights.
Editorial Discretion

Cornwall Student Union reserves the right to refuse publication of any submission deemed inappropriate, incendiary, or not aligned with the goals of the program.

The Student Columnist will be notified if their submission is not accepted, with feedback provided upon request.

Acknowledgment

The Student Columnist will be acknowledged by name, program, and any relevant affiliations alongside their column.
